Directions Tour Journal - Part I
So, I’m here in the USA, North Carolina, Charlotte and I have just played our first live show. Apart from a little trouble with the monitors we played a good set and for a great cause too. The show was in aid of the Museum in Ashe County which will eventually be stationed at the old courthouse but as it is the building at the moment is run down and in need of a lot of repair. They raised more money than they expected which will help replace windows, get building work sorted and get the museum up and running. It was so nice to meet people in the community and play for such a good cause.
I got here on Tuesday and since then Henry (Doss) and I have been practicing, working on our material and songs we’ll be performing together and getting as ready as we possibly can to go out on the road and play all the shows we have lined up. We have met some of the people on our travels who are instrumental in the local community too.
There was a huge storm the day after I got here which we managed to catch on video, in fact, we did an interview which may appear at some point on the accompanying tour website at www.directionstour.com.
Henry and Chris have shown ultimate hospitality, I feel like I’m at home away from home and we are very happy here all together working on our music, getting things done. It feels like we’re achieving something that we’ll remember and be proud of for a very long time to come.
Henry is just cooking dinner right now. We’re having lasagne and garlic bread and then afterwards we will probably watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and South Park which Chris and Henry both love.
We went to pick up our tour vehicle yesterday from the dealership in Boone. Alfred has lent us a Ford Explorer (or ‘Exploder’ as Chris and Henry call it) that we will be driving around in. This time next week things will get real busy and we’ll be travelling a lot, covering a lot of miles and playing a whole bunch of different interesting places.
So it’s back to practicing and getting ready for the shows!
Will write again soon!
