Directions Tour Journal - Part II
Tomorrow we play our 5th show at the Evening Muse in Charlotte, North Carolina. So far we have had good audiences and our shows have been really enjoyable. It’s great playing with Henry, we are both learning stuff we never would have done playing on our own. Henry, however, had an unfortunate day recently.
Two days back we finished our first Borders Bookstore show and one of his teeth broke. With it being the holiday weekend it was difficult to find an emergency dentist. Chris (Henry’s wife) remembered their old dentist and called, he called back while we were on our way back to the house and we managed to schedule an appointment for the next day. A few hours and a lot of painkillers later we played our next Borders show at Stonecrest. Henry coped well with his tooth and everything went well. Chris is fantastic, looking out for Henry and without her I’m sure we’d be in pieces. Not only did she organise the emergency appointment at the dentists (and on a holiday weekend) she has also organised tour dates right down to the last minute details, being our ‘personal shopper’ and made us feel as comfortable as possible playing our shows, making sure we have everything we need to get stuff done. So thanks Chris, you are a star and we love you to bits!
We have a day off today which is mainly being spent blogging, writing tour journals, celebrating Easter and getting ready for tomorrows show.
Our show in Johnson City, Tennessee was great. The audience, the atmosphere, ambience and feel of the place all together made for an excellent night. We stopped by Henry’s childhood home in the city and filmed a short video interview which at the time was quite difficult due to the amount of people mowing lawns and grass. If there’s one thing I’ve seen in abundance lately it’s people cutting grass!
Be sure to stop by at the site www.directionstour.com to leave us a blog comment, see our videos and check our schedule. We have encountered some truly fantastic people who have shown us nothing but kindness and sent us on our way with their best wishes. This tour is going fantastically well and we’re pleased to have the chance to do something like this. When it’s over and the end is in sight for our tour we’re gonna cry big style.
I’ve enjoyed so far seeing Henry play and listening to his material and also seeing how we’re dealt with the many different situations that occur. For example what to do when you have a static mic stand, it’s true, the smallest things can be the most annoying but we’re getting through it all in good spirits. Even when you break your tooth off it’s not impossible to succeed and get through a performance so maybe anything is possible!
